The police cars were probably being used in the filming of the tv series Life On Mars a story of a NYDP Detective from 2008 who somehow ends up waking up in 1973 and black, green & white was still being used on police cruisers in NYC then just before adopting the blue & white colour scheme in either late 1973 or earluy 1974.
